FAQ

What is Yoga?

Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in ancient India. The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word yuj, meaning “to yoke” or “to unite”. The practice aims to create union between body, mind and spirit, as well as between the individual self and universal consciousness. Such a union tends to neutralise ego-driven thoughts and behaviours, creating a sense of spiritual awakening.

Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years, and whilst many different interpretations and styles have been developed, most tend to agree that the ultimate goal of Yoga is to achieve liberation from suffering.

Although each school or tradition of Yoga has its own emphasis and practices, most focus on bringing together body, mind and breath as a means of altering energy or shifting consciousness.

Yoga is also used as a therapeutic tool for many physical and mental conditions, and mind-body research is now demonstrating its effectiveness as a treatment for chronic pain, anxiety, depression, cardiovascular, disease, and diabetes to name but a few.

I’m not flexible, can I do yoga?

Yes you can do yoga. Many people think that they need to be flexible to begin Yoga, but this isn’t true. Come as you are and you will find that regularly practising yoga will help you to become more flexible, build strength, coordination, focus, and confidence.

I’m not fit, can I do yoga?

Yes, there is no assumed level of fitness required for the yoga classes I teach. Yoga is for everybody.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that you can easily move and stretch in. Bring a jumper and maybe some comfy socks for relaxation at the end. You can even bring your own blanket if you like, but I do provide them.

When should I eat before class?

When should I eat before class?

What if I am late for a class?

Ideally, please arrive a few minutes before the class starts so you can relax and settle into the space before we begin. But things happen and sometimes people are late. I totally understand. If you can let me know beforehand then do but if not don’t worry, come to class and enter quietly, so as not to disturb others, settle onto your mat and join in when you are ready.

How do I pay for classes?

To pay for classes please contact me. You can pay with cash or via PayPal or Revolut.

Can I drop into a class?

If there is space in a class, you may be able to drop in for €15, but you would need to check beforehand to see if there is space.
